Journey
Nastee Nev, whose real name is Neville Moeletsi, was born in July 1974 in Ga-Rankuwa, a township near Pretoria, South Africa. His journey into music began in childhood, nurtured by his father’s rich collection of soul and reggae records. By his teenage years, he was already experimenting with cassette mixes and hosting small local parties, a humble beginning that would evolve into a defining career in South African house music.
In 1995, his passion earned him a residency at a local pub, where he honed his craft and gained recognition for his smooth transitions and deep rhythmic style. This experience laid the foundation for his future as a producer and performer. In 2001, he launched Nastee Nev Entertainment, followed by his debut studio album "Private Lessons" in 2002, a project that fused deep and soulful house elements with global influences.
Over the years, Nastee Nev became a key architect of the South African deep house movement, admired for his lush basslines, soulful melodies, and emotive sound design. His acclaimed tracks, including “Joy,” “Fly Away,” “Take Me (All Night),” and “Only the Lonely,” earned him respect across dance floors and radio stations alike.
Beyond production, he has remained an influential DJ, performing at major venues and mentoring younger artists through his studio. With more than two decades in the industry, Nastee Nev stands as one of South Africa’s most enduring and innovative house music figures, blending authenticity, rhythm, and soul in every beat he creates.
